Mediation is a process in which parties to a dispute meet with a neutral person called a mediator, to openly and candidly discuss settlement options and negotiate with a goal of resolving the dispute. A mediator is not a judge, or a decision maker, but an impartial person selected by the parties to facilitate a discussion of the issues with a view to finding a successful resolution of the dispute. Mediation is a viable alternative to litigation which is often an uncertain, risky, and expensive process.
